Barcode production guide
203 DPI vs 300 DPI: which is better for barcode labels?
Choose a thermal-printer resolution based on barcode density, label size and text requirements.
203 DPI is usually sufficient for ordinary shipping and warehouse labels with comfortably sized Code 128 symbols. Choose 300 DPI for smaller labels, denser data, fine text or compact 2D codes. Always design with the target DPI, print at 100% scale and test the physical label with the production scanner.
