Barcode production guide

How much quiet zone does a barcode need?

Understand barcode clear-space requirements and why trimming labels too closely causes scan failures.

A quiet zone is the empty area immediately before and after a barcode. The exact minimum depends on the symbology and module width, so do not crop to the first and last bar. Keep the generated margin intact, use a light uncluttered background and run a scan test at the final printed size.
